Context-awareness adds a new axis to the applications and services brought by Smart Cities. Such deployments consider the capabilities of the smart infrastructure to gather relevant data and actuate at different levels.
For example, one of the most demanded applications in smart cities, the car parking tracking, can be significantly improved by the use of context-awareness technologies. For this case, in addition to the capability to detect and track vehicles, different zones of the city might have evolving requirements for parking in function of different parameters : the time of the day, the density of the traffic, the availability of public transportation, a sports event, a fair, a parade…
